In the early 2000’s the Marine Institute of Newfoundland began designing a research boat to travel to the Arctic to conduct important work to help scientist better understand the quickly changing environment of the North. In doing so they wanted to make sure the vessel had full support with regards to all the equipment and components used to power the vessel and for the vast array of deck components used for the scientific work. They looked no further than East Coast Hydraulics. Having a long-standing relationship with the Institute they worked together to understand the needs of the vessel and worked to provide solutions within the constraints of the size of the vessel. Together with the shipyard that build the MV Ludy Pudluk the vessel has made waves to the Arctic several times. To date all the hands-on technical support has been conducted while the vessel is back in the home port of Holyrood during the off season for research, and remote work conducted over the phone has allowed the vessel to carry on with her work at times. However, when the call came to attend the vessel in the Arctic East Coast Hydraulics mobilized their Technicians and headed north to complete hydraulic work after a breakdown on the vessel. Wherever and whenever needed East Cast Hydraulics is there to answer the call, north, south, east, or west.
